Running Home Appliances in your car is as easy as installing a "voltage inverter". This is a smart device that converts to voltage in your car to a high enough voltage to power home appliances that run off wall outlet power. What kind of voltage inverter do I need for my car and truck? Good question. These inverters are rated by "watt output". Say for example you bought a 2000 watt inverter. This would be a big one. Now look on the back of the appliances you plan to plug into this 2000 watt inverter. They are usually labeled as to how much "power" they draw. "Watts" are a measurement of power. For example I just looked at the back of a space heater in my closet. It says 1000 watts. Another example. I just looked on the back of this home stereo system, It says 50 watts. You won't find too many devices that draw alot of wattage like that space heater. You will find that you can run a microwave, tv, stereo, clocks and other electronic devices all at the same time with no problem. Just do the math before plugging them in. Add up your wattage and don't exceed the wattage handling capacity of the inverter. If you do exceed the unit's capacity, it will safely shut down by tripping a breaker or blowing a fuse.

Whoa Dude! What if I put my Marshall Stack Guitar amp in the back seat of my car. That would be loud. Yes you could do this. The power inverter would also be a good way to play guitar at the beach or an outdoor party running off your car's battery.

Some of these inverters plug right in to your cigarette lighter. Plug it into the lighter and plug the device into the inverter. It's that easy. If you are running some items that will run a lot of watts it is reccomended you wire the inverter straight to the battery with thick cables. If you are doing your own custom install this would be a killer idea. Just vision it like this. Inverter run to battery. Inverter hidden in your vehicle. And then powerstrip of 110 mounted on your own custom panel. If you did it right, it will of course look like it was made to be. "Wow! You can plug in home items in your car, Sweet". Yes this is how they do it on shows like "Trick my Truck". If you really want to pimp your ride then an inverter is the slick choice.

Unlimited uses. One could have a home computer system in their car. Example, small tower secretly mounted and small flat screen up front on a swivel. Or just plug the old laptop in on the seat next to you. With an inverter you can create all the comforts of home in a van, RV, truck, camper or car. You might be suprised how long your car battery will run an old 15 inch tv and stereo using an inverter. Inverters don't draw your battery down as much as one might think they would. Just think of all the one hundred and ten volt ( 110V ) items you could run off your inverter.

Example- Let's say a bad storm took out the power to your home for hours. No problem. Just run extension cords from the inverter in your car into the house to keep the food in the fridge from spoiling and the lights and tv on. You may find you only have to start the car periodically to keep the battery charged to power these devices.
